Hodder Children`s Books are delighted to announce that critically acclaimed children`s author David Almond has just won the Hans Christian Anderson Author Award for 2010.

The news comes hot off the press from the Bologna International Book Fair where the announcement was made earlier today.

David Almond is recognised as a unique voice in children`s literature and is the winner of the Whitbread Children`s Book Award and the Carnegie Medal. His best-selling novel Skellig has sold half a million copies in the UK and is a favourite text in schools. In 2008 Skellig celebrated its 10th anniversary. The novel has featured as a play, opera and, most recently a movie for Sky starring Tim Roth.
 
Hodder Children’s UK sales for David Almond exceed one million.
 
David Almond is currently writing the magical prequel to Skellig. My Name Is Mina will publish this September.
